Reducing the Impact of Hospital-Acquired Infections on Hospital Readmissions
From Healthcare Future - Reducing Bouncebacks
Poor hand sanitation is one of the key factors leading to increased hospital-acquired infections (HAIs), ultimately leading to a higher risk of readmission. Although hand-washing stations and sanitizers are commonly available in the hospitals, non-compliance rates are high and more measures need to be taken. We have designed a motion-dependent hand-sanitizer to be used to spray alcohol-based antiseptic on hospital door handles, to sanitize the hands of healthcare personnel as they enter ICU and surgical patient wards.
