Laura Sims is currently pursuing her Masters of Science in Health Systems. She graduated in May 2010 from Georgia Tech with a B.S. in Industrial and Systems Engineering. As part of her undergraduate capstone project, Laura worked with the Emory University Hospital Department of Emergency Medicine on patient flow issues. In the summer of 2011, she worked as an intern again with the Emory ED on process improvement projects. Laura will continue on with Emory as a Graduate Research Assistant alongside her coursework in the Health Systems program.
Laura's previous work experience includes an internship as a supply chain analyst for the customer solutions department at Georgia-Pacific. She gained healthcare experience as an undergraduate by volunteering in the Grady ED as well at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. She also volunteered at a clinic in San Juan, Costa Rica with the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC). She is a member and a student liaison for the Georgia Chapter of the Health Information Management Systems Society (HIMSS).
