Bio
Travis Deyle is currently a PhD candidate in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), working in the Healthcare Robotics Lab under the direction of Dr. Charlie Kemp and in collaboration with Dr. Matt Reynolds of Duke University. Travis received a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering and a BS in Computer Science and Mathematics from the University of Nebraska (Peter Kiewit Institute) in 2005. He worked at Sandia National Laboratories in Livermore, CA as a full-time employee from 2005-2006 and as an intern for the three previous summers.
Travis is currently investigating UHF Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) tag localization to provide sparse location information in addition to unique identification (even among visually identical objects). Travis's goal is to show that these enhanced capabilities, when fused with mobility and other sensing modalities such as laser range-finders, create more capable mobile manipulation and human-robot interaction systems and algorithms.
Travis is currently supported by two prestigious fellowships: an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship (NSF GRFP) and the Georgia Tech Institute Fellowship (GTIF).
