Bio
Elaine Smith is a master's student in the Health Systems Institute. In 2005, Elaine received her BS in Industrial & Systems Engineering with a minor in Business/Engineering Technology from Auburn University. After graduation, she worked for AmeriCorps NCCC, a year long federal national service program. During this program, Elaine helped rebuild houses in Mississippi and New Orleans to aid in the recovery from Hurricane Katrina and taught math and science at an inner-city middle school. Elaine joined the MSHS program in January of 2007.
Elaine's work experience includes an internship as a logistics coordinator with ExxonMobil and teaching assistant positions for introductory industrial and systems engineering and technology management courses at Auburn University. She has been involved in research relating to Occupational Safety & Ergonomics specialization (a work study of city public works) and has interest in evaluating healthcare delivery and process improvement in hospitals.
