Xiao Liu is a master's student in the Health Systems Institute. He joined the program in January of 2007 after earning an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Georgia Tech. Xiao received his MEng in Electronics and Signal Processing in 2005 from INPT-ENSEEIHT (Toulouse, France) and his BS from Peking University (Beijing, China) in 2003. Xiao's professional work experience includes work as a programmer intern for GE Medical Systems (Beijing, China), employment as an electrical engineer at Schlumberger (Paris, France), and a job as a research intern at INSERM (France National Institute of Health and Medicine).

Xiao's interests involve healthcare IT, quality improvement, process reengineering, decision making, and financial anaysis and management. He joined the MSHS program to get involved in research through the HSI GRA sponsorship program. He will be working with DeKalb Medical Center for a year which will help him learn more about healthcare delivery systems and opportunities in the field by working on a real project with the industry mentors.
