Alexis Wismer is a master's student in Health Systems. She received her B.S. with distinction in Industrial and Management Systems Engineering from the University of Nebraska in 2006. Among her honors and awards, Alexis was on the Dean's list from 2002-2006; earned a Regent's Scholarship; was a Tau Beta Pi Distinguished Scholar; received a Peter Kiewit Distinguished Scholar award; and was a recipient of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. She also won an Alpha Pi Mu Outstanding Underclassman Award and placed 2nd in the IIE Region 6 Student Technical Paper Competition.
Currently, Alexis is participating in graduate research for Dekalb Medical Center, designing and developing a database which manages pricing contract and payment methodology to provide more accurate statistical estimates for outpatient surgery and imaging procedures to increase patient/physician satisfaction. As an undergraduate, Alexis worked as an intern for LI-COR Biosciences and created a facility layout to utilize existing space more effectively while expanding production. She also worked as an undergraduate research assistant for the University of Nebraska on a UCARE funded project (Pepsi Scholarship). In this role, she designed and ran ergonomics experiments evaluating muscular forces and joint angles in pianists.
