Bio
Mahima Ashok received her Ph.D. in Bioengineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in August 2009 with a doctoral GPA of 4.0. As a Ph.D. student at Georgia Tech, Mahima worked as a graduate research assistant at the Health Systems Institute and the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Mahima was involved in various projects including a usability assessment at a pediatric hospital in the Atlanta area. She was also selected for an internship with the American Cancer Society during which time she worked for the Health Services Research group. The focus of her doctoral research was the assessment of disparities in testing and treatment of HER2 breast cancer as well as evaluation of the cost-effectiveness of HER2 testing methods. During her Ph.D., Mahima was the recipient of the Georgia Tech Women's Forum Scholarship and was selected for the 'Innovate' conference on technology, science, and leadership held in China and India. Mahima previously received Bachelors and Masters degrees from Georgia Tech.
Mahima will join the Division of Cancer Prevention and Control at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in their Atlanta, GA headquarters as an ORISE (Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Technology) Fellow in Fall 2009.
