Hospital wayfinding systems are very important to all people trying to find as well as navigate within the hospital. This project addresses the current problems of the Hughes Spalding Hospital in Atlanta, GA. An overall wayfinding strategy is used, incorporating the use of landmarks and signs as well as considering the demographic of all people. One challenge is to make the medical norms and terms easy to understand, both on the adult and children’s levels. Another challenge is to reconstruct the signage system to create a system that is more dynamic for the current and future functions of the hospital. External and internal wayfinding solutions are proposed.
