Information technologies such as electronic medical records are increasingly being implemented in clinical settings to improve quality of care, patient safety, and operational efficiencies. However, acceptance of these technologies by clinicians is crucial to achieving the desired benefits from these systems. This program will report on factors that affect clinical staff and physician acceptance of electronic medical records and discuss steps organizations can take to improve user acceptance. Examples from Children's Healthcare of Atlanta’s experience implementing an electronic medical record will be discussed.
