From Emergency Room of the Future
- Parking is an issue
- Peak time is between 10:00 am and 10:00 pm
- Mornings are usually not busy
- Average patient volume ~ 150
- High patient volume ~ 180
- No windows in the ED (besides the waiting room)
- Try to maintain a 1:4 nurse to patient ratio
- ED has ~ 50 beds
- Supplies are divided up into separate areas (i.e. respiratory)
- A floor plan of the ED and some basic statistics would be very helpful
